★★★★★ Made 8 dives here over May-June 2024 leading Bombs to Batoids with Sharklab-Malta, all within recreational limits. I will note that from a ray perspective, there is no better site in the Maltese archipelago, depending on which side/area you dive, you will see at least 10+ rays of multiple species, in addition to some behaviours that you won't really see elsewhere such as large stingrays free swimming in groups and patrolling the reefs. Angelsharks are also known to occur in the area. Outside of rays however, there is a noted lack of large predatory fish that you might otherwise associate with a highly protected area, no barracuda, groupers, amberjacks, tuna etc. it could have been the time of year, lack of seagrass or similar, but it was certainly something to note. Both spiny and slipper lobsters can also be seen walking around during the day, which is another strange behaviour for the site. Unexploded ordinance is an extra environmental factor to consider, but swimming over the reefs at a reasonable distance you shouldn't really run the risk of bumping into any shells. To my knowledge diving beyond recreational limits here is still a largely unexplored medium, and I would be fascinated to see what intrepid divers could uncover.

★★★★ I made a double dive here. One to Twin peaks reef/dropoff and another around Filfoletta which is the tiny islet next to Filfla. If you dive from between these islands you can spot a lot of ammunitions from the time when Filfla was a practice target for the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Be careful and don't touch the munitions. If you manage to get an opportunity to dive here it's really worth a visit.
