Crib wreck

Crib is an underwater nativity scene with almost life-sized figures. The figures are cut from plate metal and welded to a tubular frame. Crib was placed in December 1992 by a local Maltese diving club Calypso Sub-Aqua Club, and the figures are now covered with a nice growth of colourful sponges and algae. As an unusual underwater feature the artificial crib creates an interesting juxtaposed sense of man-made against natural reef.

Crib is located in one of the overhangs on the outer reef in Ghar Lapsi at the depth of about 22 metres. To reach the Crib, divers follow a system of reefs which are surrounded by grass and sandy bottom, with occasional caves and swim throughs. Diving the Crib can be combined with Finger Reef dive.

Strong currents are not unusual in this area.
