★★★☆☆ from 2 divers

Benghisa Reef dive site is located about 1 km off Benghisa Point in Birzebbuga on the south coast of Malta. This is a boat dive. Benghisa Reef stretches for 1.5 km in southeasterly direction. The reef starts from 10 m and the depth varies greatly with drop-offs up to 50 m.

When diving Benghisa Reef, beware of the boat traffic and carry a DSMB, as this dive site is located near the entrance to Marsaxlokk Bay and the busy harbour of Malta Freeport. Strong currents occasionally come up quite fast in this area.

Mark Vassallo, October 2020:
★★★☆☆ A lot of interesting life on the reef, from a variety of large snails to conger and moray eels.
Adam Sant, October 2020:
★★★☆☆ A different kind of dive, worth doing at least once. Best done as a drift dive. The reef is relatively deep and very exposed to currents - as such I would only recommend it for experienced divers and ideally with tech setups. The shallow parts of the reef are not very interesting, the deeper parts are filled with boulders and lots to see.
